Event Details

Dear Members and Friends,

The Royal Thai Embassy in Switzerland and the Swiss Embassy in Thailand are keen to introduce an array of opportunities for Swiss cleantech enterprises within the evolving Thai cleantech market. This roundtable discussion will explore various pathways for Swiss cleantech companies to engage in broader environmental initiatives, not limited to green energy projects. Key participants will share their insights and address the multifaceted needs of the Thai cleantech landscape. The advent of new sustainable policies and green industry strategies create ample opportunities for Swiss cleantech companies across numerous sectors.

Thailand has recently amended its second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement, with an ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction target of 40% by 2030, as compared to 2005 levels. As part of Thailand's ambitious plan to combat climate change, it aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065. This paves the way for Swiss companies, renowned for their advanced technology, to tap into various aspects of the Thai cleantech market.

Thailand's vast resources and commitment to sustainability put it in a strong position to become a hub for comprehensive cleantech solutions, spanning renewable energy, water management, waste management, decarbonisation, and more. As a leader in the ASEAN region, the country offers opportunities across a broad spectrum of cleantech fields.

According to the United Nations, Thailand is the ninth most climate-vulnerable country. As the only net food exporter in Asia, the repercussions of climate change could disrupt global food security. In response, the Thai government has adopted the Bio-Green-Circular (BCG) Economy model as a core aspect of its national development strategy, opening up even more avenues for cleantech innovations.

Participants in the roundtable will gain a thorough understanding of the diverse cleantech sectors in Thailand and their current trends. The event is a collaborative effort of the Royal Thai Embassy in Switzerland, the Swiss Embassy in Thailand, the Swiss-Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce.
