Why dedicate a whole episode to Plastics?

Although this material is an integral part of our daily lives, the wide-scale use of plastic did not begin until around 1950, after the end of the Second World War. Nowadays, plastics have found their way into most areas of our daily lives. The largest market, however, is the packaging industry, where these materials are designed for immediate disposal.

As customers, we are expected to dispose of these materials in such a way that they can be recycled. After having disposed of them in the garbage, even if it is separated, we however don't know what happens to it. However, more than often they are not properly disposed of or recycled and end up in the oceans or in nature, harming the ecosystem.

That's why we want to dedicate the 3rd episode of the SwissCham APAC sustainability series to this material and explore alternative materials and measures taken by companies to use less or alternative materials for packaging their products.

We look forward to see you there!
