STCC PRESIDENT's MESSAGE
Dear Friends and Members of the STCC

As we are moving into the final days of 2021, we have to admit that we have been dealing with one of the most challenging and difficult business environments since a long time. However, there are some glimmers of hope that the worst might be over and that the Thai economy is coming back on its feet.

STCC-Swiss Embassy EV Innovation Evening
STCC-Swiss Embassy EV Innovation Evening
It was an excellent STCC-Swiss Embassy EV Innovation Evening that took place across the Embassy grounds on the 25th of November! More than 140 participants were able to learn about the electric vehicle innovations that STCC member companies and those with ties to Switzerland also offer in Thailand.

The STCC is proud to have organised this first event around EV and other aspects of sustainability and we thank the Embassy of Switzerland for having very generously sponsored this event!

Thailand Monthly Economic Monitor for November 2021
Thailand Monthly Economic Monitor for November 2021
The government has reopened international borders and lifted the curfew in Bangkok as the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths continued to decline. The target to vaccinate 70% of the population by end-2021 moved within reach due to an acceleration in the vaccination rate. However, the recovery in tourism is expected to be gradual. Domestic economic activity rebounded in September and October due to the lifting of lockdown measures and the decline in infections.

Monitoring the Impact of COVID-19 in Thailand
Monitoring the Impact of COVID-19 in Thailand
Thailand was the second country to report a COVID-19 case in January 2020. The Thai Government was able to maintain the number of COVID-19 cases low for as long as September 2020, a result of an early lockdown and effective contact tracing strategy. While the measures taken by the Government slowed down the spread of the pandemic in Thailand, they resulted in loss of jobs, incomes, businesses and food security for families and education for children.

Unfortunately, subsequent waves and emerging new variants have imposed a major economic challenge on the country as the number of COVID-19 cases surged to over 2,000 cases per day in May 2021 and led to new strict containment measures.

RIS SWISS SECTION DEUTSCHSPRACHIGE SCHULE BANGKOK
Safe into the Christmas Season and Big Plans for 2022
Safe into the Christmas Season and Big Plans for 2022
Thanks to the diligent cooperation and collaboration of the entire school community, face-to-face classes at RIS Swiss Section have been running smoothly in all grades since the school reopened in early November. In fact, the school has shifted into high gear in no time, incl. conducting German language exams (DSD), attending education fairs and celebrating seasonal festivities such as Loy Krathong and the St. Martin's lantern procession in accordance with campus safety protocols. Only the realization of the popular and traditional school Christmas market on December 16 looks rather unlikely at the time of writing. Please consult the school pages on Facebook or Instagram for updates.
As the school's sponsoring association, the Swiss Educational Association (SEA) is responsible for strategic school development and modernization. In a new information format, SEA President Knut Sierotzki and Vice President Natalie Becher address the school community with news on current topics like AGM, digitization and school expansion.
